Hiring Restaurant Cooks!

Pequod’s Pizza in Chicago is looking to expand our back-of-house team with experienced kitchen staff. We are looking to fill a full-time position requiring night and weekend availability and the ability to work until close.

This position is responsible for preparing and cooking pizzas and other menu items including appetizers, salads, pasta, and sandwiches while maintaining a clean, sanitary, and well-stocked kitchen.

Pequod’s is a fast-paced atmosphere, so our kitchen staff must take pride in providing quality menu items that ensure guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete all applicable opening and closing duties as well as any other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Follow standard recipes.
  • Prepare all served foods according to established procedures.
  • Memorize, record, and comprehend menu items, abbreviations, plate appearance, and portioning.
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow First In, First Out.
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances.
  • Attended all scheduled employee meetings and was prepared to discuss any suggestions for improvement.
  • Promptly report any issues with equipment or food quality to the manager on duty.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in a high-volume pizza kitchen.
  • Familiarity with making different types of pizza (thin, pan, deep dish) and other menu items including appetizers, salads, and sandwiches.
  • ServSafe Certificate required.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
  • Reliable, punctual, and shows a sense of urgency.
  • Flexible work schedule with availability on nights and weekends.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well in teams.
